Nadeau, Suniev named listed on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List

PENTICTON, B.C. – NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary rankings for the 2023 NHL Draft Tuesday, and Penticton Vees’ forwards Bradly Nadeau and Aydar Suniev were both ranked.

Nadeau is a B-ranked skater and Suniev is a C-ranked skater. NHL Central Scouting ranks players as either ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’ ranked skaters. An ‘A’ rating indicates a 1st round candidate, a ‘B’ rating indicates a 2nd or 3rdround candidate, and a ‘C’ rating indicates a 4th to 6th round candidate.

Nadeau leads the BC Hockey League (BCHL) in points with 24 in 11 games. The 17-year-old is tied for the league lead in goals (10) and is second in assists (14). Nadeau had four goals and eight points in four wins last week, as the Vees extended their season-opening win streak to 11 games. Nadeau is currently on an 11-game point streak to start the season. The winger is committed to the University of Maine.

Suniev, 17, leads all BCHL Rookies with 13 points in 10 games. The 6’2, 205-pound forward also leads all Rookies with eight goals. He is also tied for second in the BCHL in power play goals with three. Suniev is one goal away from matching his career high of nine that he set last season. The winger is committed to the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Forward Jonathan Castagna, who is committed to play for the Vees next season, was also listed as a C-ranked skater. Castagna, 17, currently plays for St. Andrew’s College in Ontario. Last season, as a 16-year-old, Castagna had 20 points in 35 games.

The 2023 NHL Draft is scheduled for June 28-29, 2023, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN.

The Vees are back home tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26th, against the Cranbrook Bucks; puck drop is 6:30 pm. Tickets are available at the Valley First box office at the SOEC, or online at www.valleyfirsttix.com
