Nadeau brothers named the BCHL Second, Third Stars of the Week

PENTICTON, B.C. – The BC Hockey League (BCHL) announced the Three Stars of the Week on Monday, with Penticton Vees forwards Bradly and Josh Nadeau named the Second and Third Stars, for the week ending October 30th. Forward Aydar Suniev received an Honourable Mention.

Bradly, 17, had seven points (3G, 4A) in three wins over Cranbrook, West Kelowna, and Trail last week. Wednesday, Bradly had two points, including the game-winner, in the Vees 4-3 overtime victory over the Bucks at the SOEC. Friday, the winger recorded three points, including scoring the game winning goal, in Penticton’s 4-1 triumph over the Warriors. Bradly finished off the week with a two-point (1G, 1A) effort in the Vees 9-3 win at home against the Smoke Eaters. Bradly has scored in five-straight games and has points in all 14 games this season. The future University of Maine Black Bear leads the BCHL with 31 points (13G, 18A) in 14 games.

Josh, 19, also had seven points (4G, 3A) in three games. Against the Bucks he had a goal and an assist. He followed that up with three points (1G, 2A) on Friday in West Kelowna, and finished off the week with a pair of points (1G, 1A) in the Vees’ lopsided win over Trail. Josh has scored a goal in each of his last four games and has points in nine-straight games. The Nadeau siblings occupy the top two spots in BCHL scoring, as Josh is second with 27 points (9G, 18A) in 14 games. Josh too is committed to the University of Maine.

Suniev received an Honourable Mention after he had seven points (2G, 5A) over three games last week, highlighted by his five-point effort against Trail Saturday. Suniev, who turns 18 next month, had an assist in Wednesday’s and Friday’s wins over Cranbrook and West Kelowna. He then amassed five points (2G, 3A) in the Vees’ win over Trail. The 6’2, 205-pound forward leads the BCHL in Rookie scoring with 20 points (10G, 10A) in 13 games. Suniev is committed to the University of  Massachusetts Amherst.

The Vees put have a pair of home games this weekend against Prince George and Wenatchee. Friday, Penticton faces the Spruce Kings for the first time this season; faceoff is 7:00 pm. Saturday, the Vees host the Wild for a 6:00 pm puck drop at the SOEC.
