PENTICTON, B.C.- The Penticton Vees win streak has hit 17, after their 6-2 win over the Vernon Vipers, Friday at the SOEC.

The Vees picked up their ninth win at the SOEC and in front of their largest crowd of the season, as 3,382 fans turned out for the Remembrance Day contest.

Beanie Richter, Callum Arnott, and Ben Brunette each had a goal and an assist in the win. Jackson Nieuwendyk, Ryan Hopkins, and Ethan Mann also scored for Penticton. Frank Djurasevic had a pair of assists. Hank Levy stopped 13 of 15 shots for his fifth win of the season.

Richter got the crowd buzzing five and a half minutes into the game, as he scored his second of the season to put the Vees up 1-0. Mason Poolman’s shot off the goalie’s pad created a rebound and Richter was all over it at the top of the crease.

Vernon’s Seiya Tanaka-Campbell tied it 1-1 at 16:37, scoring from the bottom of the face-off circle.

It took the Vees just 12 seconds to retake the lead in the second period, as Brunette scored at the tail end of a power play. Brunette’s shot from the blueline found its way through traffic and past Vernon’s Roan Clarke. His sixth made it 2-1.

Nieuwendyk added an insurance marker late in the middle frame. Just after the Vees had a power play expire, Nieuwendyk wheeled into the slot and fired over the goalie’s shoulder. His eighth at 18:56 put Penticton up 3-1.

In the third, the Vees scored three more times. Arnott batted a bouncing back past Clarke just 52 seconds into the final frame, his second, made it 4-1. Hopkins scored his sixth at 2:04, putting Penticton up 5-1 after his shot from up top eluded the Vernon goaltender on the stick side. Mann scored the Vees’ sixth goal at 9:59, as he followed up Arnott’s drive to the net and shoved the loose puck across the line.

Lee Parks scored a late consolation power play goal for the Vipers to cap off the scoring at 17:29
