Massimo Rizzo drafted by Carolina Hurricanes

Penticton, BC: The Penticton Vees are proud to announce that team captain Massimo Rizzo has been drafted 216th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He becomes the 33rd player to be drafted into the NHL directly from the Vees franchise, and third to be drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes, joining Justin Krueger in 2006 and Zac Dalpe in 2008.

Rizzo, from Burnaby, missed 21 games during the 2018-19 season but still finished over a point per game  with 11 goals and 29 assists in 37 games. 

In the playoffs, Rizzo finished first on the Vees in scoring with three goals and three assists in six games against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

He also represented Canada at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge this past season, recording two assists in six games with Team Canada West.

Rizzo has an NCAA scholarship for the University of North Dakota for the future.
