Penticton, BC: The Penticton Vees are pleased to announce Jack LaFontaine and Derek Krall have won the Wally Forslund Trophy for lowest combined goals-against-average in the BCHL for the 2018-19 season.

LaFontaine, from Toronto, was the Vees go-to guy in net this season, appearing in 45 games and posting a record of 30-10-2-1. His GAA for the year was a minuscule 2.19 along with his .923 save percentage and three shutouts. His wins, GAA and save percentage all ranked second amongst all goalies this season while his three shutouts was tied for third.

LaFontaine was leaned upon heavily down the stretch, starting 19 of the Vees final 21 games as they pushed for an eighth straight Interior Division title. The workload didn’t hamper his playing ability as he had a record of 13-3-2 and a save percentage of .933 over that span.

Krall, from Nanaimo, appeared in 14 games this season with a record of 7-4-1-1. Krall had a 2.79 GAA and .895 save percentage this season in 13 starts and one relief appearance. Krall did not lose back to back starts all season.

2018-19 marks the sixth time in the previous seven seasons the Vees goaltending tandem has won the award, with last season being the only time they didn’t.
