James Miller nominated for CJHL Top Defenceman

Penticton, BC: The Penticton Vees are proud to announce James Miller has been nominated for the Top Defenceman in the CJHL for the 2018-19 season.

Miller, from Spruce Grove, Alberta, blew his previous career highs away this past year with 18 goals and 44 assists to lead the Vees in scoring with 62 points.

His 18 goals ranked second in the BCHL behind only Victoria’s Carter Berger (27) while his 62 points was just one behind Berger for top spot in the league.

Miller racked up 10 power-play goals this season, the only defenceman in the league to do so. He added 20 power-play assists on the man advantage. For his efforts he was named the BCHL’s Top Defenceman for the 2018-19 campaign.

For his career, Miller skated in 115 games for the Vees scoring 26 goals and 64 assists. He was a member of the 2017 Fred Page Cup winning team, assisting on the double-overtime goal in game seven against Chilliwack.

Miller announced his commitment to Northern Michigan University December 22.

If Miller wins the award, he will be the first Vees defenceman to win CJHL Top Defenceman since Dante Fabbro in 2016.
