GAME PREVIEW: Vees Conclude Road Schedule With Visit To Wenatchee

The Penticton Vees (41-8-0-2) get set to pack up for their final road trip of the regular season as they head south of the border to take on the Wenatchee Wild (22-24-4-1) on Wednesday night at the Town Toyota Center.

Penticton comes into the final week of the regular season following a weekend in the East Kootenays, concluding a weekend against the Cranbrook Bucks with a 6-1 victory on Saturday night. Adam Eisele scored twice in the game while Jackson Nieuwendyk, Bradly Nadeau, Brett Moravec and Luc Wilson each found the back of the net once in the win, Carter Serhyenko turned aside 23 of the 24 shots thrown his way in his 9th win of the season.

The Vees and Wild conclude their season series on Wednesday with Penticton making their second trip down south following a three-game series in late January with the Vees sweeping the trio of games, including a 4-2 victory to conclude the trip. Thomas Pichette, Casey McDonald, Bradly Nadeau and Adam Eisele each found the back of the net in the win while Kaeden Lane turned aside 33 of the 35 shots thrown his way for the win in net.

Providing points from the blue line has been a big key for the Vees and their success this season and have had strong contributions from Grayson Arnott on the back end in the past five games. The University of Maine commit has posted two goals and seven assists for nine points in his last five games while collecting points in four of his last five contests.

The second two-goal performance of the season for Adam Eisele came on Saturday night in Cranbrook helped the Vees to their 41st win of the season. The University of Minnesota State-Mankato commit has registered points in three of his last four games, posting two goals and two assists for four points in that span while picking up a point in 17 of his 24 games played with the Vees since joining the team in early January.

With an assist on Saturday in their 6-1 win over the Bucks, Vees forward Luc Wilson amassed the 70-point mark and now has 175 career points in 179 games played. The Duncan, BC native has posted points in each of his last four games, registering 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points in that span and is tied for 5th in the league with his 60 points, being one of six BCHLers to have collected 70 points this season.

The Wenatchee Wild come into Wednesday night’s action looking to make it four wins in a row after a sweep of three consecutive games against the Trail Smoke Eaters, concluding with a 5-2 triumph on Saturday night at the Town Toyota Center. Quinn Emerson and Garrett Szydlowski each found the back of the net twice with Ean Somoza and Connor Overson scoring once in the win. Andy Vlaha turned aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced in the game in his 5th win of the season in between the pipes.

With a goal and an assist on Saturday night against the Smoke Eaters, Wild forward Garrett Szydlowski has manifested a five-game point streak heading into the final week of the regular season. The Western Michigan commit has posted two goals and five assists for seven points in that span while also collecting goals in each of his last two games. The Brighton, Michigan native sits in 6th on the team with his 13 tallies this season.

Leading the way in scoring for the Wild over the course of the season has been forward Ean Somoza, who comes into Wednesday’s game also riding a point streak of his own at four games and has collected at least a point in five of his last six games. Another commit to the University of Western Michigan, the Simi Valley, California native has posted 14 goals and 38 assists for 52 points in 46 games this season while collecting a goal and five assists for six points during his four-game point streak, including a three-assist night on Thursday against Trail.

The Vees and Wild play in the six and final game of their six-game season series in Wenatchee at Town Toyota Center. Puck drop is slated for 6:00 PM with the game broadcasted live on Bounce Radio 800 as well as streamed on BCHLTV.ca beginning with the pre-game show at 5:40 PM.
