Last Game: The Vees opened the 2022-23 BCHL Regular Season with a convincing 7-1 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters Friday at the SOEC. Brett Moravec had a pair of goals and finished with three points. Josh Niedermayer had three assists and Mason Poolman and Bradly Nadeau each had two helpers. Josh Nadeau, Spencer Smith, Callum Arnott, Dovar Tinling and Aydar Suniev also scored in the win. Luca Di Pasquo earned his first BCHL win by stopping 21 of 22 shots. Special teams were sharp, as the Vees’ power play went 3-4 and the penalty kill was 2-2.

Penticton led 2-0 after 20 minutes and 5-0 through two periods. The turning point Friday was midway through the second. With the Vees up 2-0, Trail’s Ethan Warrener was handed seven minutes in penalties after a one-man fight. On that extended power play, the Vees scored twice and never looked back.

Tonight’s Game: Tonight in the first of four meetings with the Bucks. Last season, the Vees were 4-1 in five games against Cranbrook. This is the first meeting since March 19th, when the Vees beat the Bucks 6-2 at Western Financial Place.

Last Game: The Bucks opened their season with a 5-2 win on the road over the Merritt Centennials Friday. It was a good start for Cranbrook, as they scored three times in the first period, as they led 3-0 after 20 minutes. They were up 5-0 nine minutes into the second period, before the Centennials scored two goals in the middle frame. Kellan Hjartarson had a goal and two points in the win and was named the game’s first star. Nathan Airey picked up the win in net for Cranbrook, as he turned aside 28 of 30 shots fired his way.
