Season Series vs. Powell River

Nov. 26 @ Powell River, 7:00 pm

Last Game: The Vees extended their win streak to 22 games with a 7-1 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, Friday on Vancouver Island. Jackson Nieuwendyk picked up his second career hat-trick in the win. Bradly and Josh Nadeau, along with Spencer Smith and Frank Djurasevic scored in the win. Six of the Vees seven goals were scored at even strength. After a scoreless first period, the Vees rattled off four goals in the second, two in 41 seconds, to pull away. Penticton added three more in the third period.

Tonight’s Game: First and only meeting with the Kings this season. Last season, the Vees thumped Powell River 15-1 at the SOEC back on Oct. 30, 2021. Bradly Nadeau had four goals and Brett Moravec had seven points in that lopsided win. Tonight, is Penticton’s first trip to Powell River in over three years, as they last made a visit to the Sunshine Coast on Oct. 11, 2019. The Vees earned a 6-2 win that night. Hank Levy will get the start in goal, he’s 6-0, with a 1.99 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

A win tonight would equal the Vees second-longest win streak in franchise history at 23 games. That was set during the 2015-16 season.

Streaks: Bradly and Josh Nadeau each have scored goals in four-straight games. Bradly has seven goals and 11 points in his last four. Josh has five goals and 12 points over a four-game stretch.

2-1 W vs. Victoria (Nov. 19) Dec. 3 vs. Cowichan Valley, 5:00 pm

6-5 L @ Salmon Arm (Nov. 11) Dec. 16 @ Cowichan Valley, 7:00 pm

Last Game: Powell River had their two-game win streak snapped Friday, losing 6-4 at home to the Nanaimo Clippers. The two teams were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, then Nanaimo led 3-2 going into the third period. Powell River tied it 3-3 midway through the final frame on a Jack Blanchett goal, but the Clippers scored two power play goals in just under three minutes to go back up by two. Park Lalonde made it a 5-4 game with just over two minutes left, but Nanaimo’s Mike Murtagh hit the empty net with one second left on the clock.

Scouting Report: Big stretch of games for the Kings, as they are in the middle of an eight-game home stand. So far, they have won two of three at Hap Parker Arena, as they look to make ground on the Coastal Conference. The Kings are tied with Chilliwack, as each have 15 points. A win tonight, coupled with a Chiefs loss in Coquitlam, would move Powell River into sole possession of sixth place.
