Forward Louie Wehmann commits to Cornell

Penticton Vees forward Louie Wehmann has committed to Cornell University, the team announced Monday. The 18-year-old is the second player on this year’s roster to commit to Cornell, following forward Caton Ryan who committed to the Big Red earlier this month.

Wehmann, 18, has 14 points (7G, 7A) in 21 regular season games this season. The Wayzata, Minnesota, product signed with the Vees in November after starting the 2024-25 season with the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Before this season, Wehmann played high school hockey in Minnesota for Providence Academy and was the captain in his senior season. Last year, the 6’3, 209-pound forward had a standout season, as he led his team with 68 points (48 G, 20A) in 26 games. Wehmann was named a finalist for the prestigious Mr. Hockey Award in 2024. That award is handed out annual to the top high school player in the state of Minnesota. As a junior in 2022-23, Wehmann set the new singe season all-time scoring record for Providence Academy.
