Vees strengthen blue line for next season with commitment of Daniel Buchbinder

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is excited to announce defenceman Daniel Buchbinder (’04) has committed to the team for the 2023-24 season, the team announced Wednesday.

‘Daniel has developed a strong, two-way game at Northwood. His size and range will be extremely valuable to our backend next season,” stated Vees’ President, General Manager & Head Coach Fred Harbinson.

Buchbinder, 18, has spent the last three seasons playing High School Prep for the Northwood School Huskies in Lake Placid, New York. The 6’3, 195-pound defenceman has put up 38 points (6G, 32A) in 66 games this season, and is the top scoring defenceman on his team. He also sits fifth in points.

After three years and over 130 games at Northwood, Buchbinder looks forward to the next step in his hockey career, “It was an easy decision based on everything Penticton has to offer. They have great coaches, a great facility and I feel like it’s the best place for my development to prepare for college,” began Buchbinder. “My family and I are excited. I want to thank my parents for supporting my every step. I can’t wait to get to Penticton.”

The Buffalo, New York, product already has a commitment lined up to the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The River Hawks play in the Hockey East Conference.

Buchbinder’s addition for next season bolsters an already deep recruiting class on the blue line for Penticton.
