London Drugs Home Opener Saturday

The Penticton Vees 2016-2017 Home Opener, presented by London Drugs, is set for Saturday, October 1st, when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters at 6 pm at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC).

Prior to Saturday’s home opener against Trail, the Vees are in West Kelowna to face the Warriors at Royal LePage Place tomorrow night. Though they played an exhibition game in West Kelowna in August, this will be the first meaningful game at RLP for the Vees, since game six of the Interior Final last March.

Penticton enters the weekend winners of three straight and five of their first six games, and they’re ranked 14th in the National Top 20 Rankings. This is the Vees eighth home opener at the SOEC and they have won every home opener since the SOEC opened in September of 2008.

Back again are the Vees’ collectable posters that will feature a different player each game. Fans will have the opportunity to get their poster signed by the featured player after the game on the main concourse in the BC Hockey Hall of Fame. To start the year off, Team Captain Nicholas Jones will be the first player to be featured for the Home Opener.

Also, the Vees will be handing out their 2016-2017 commemorative Fridge Magnet Schedule at Saturday’s game to the first 2,000 fans!

Get to your seats on time Saturday for the pre-game ceremony, starting at 6 pm sharp! The Vees will be unveiling two new banners, after winning the BCHL regular season championship and Interior Division regular season pennant. They’ll also be introducing the “Ring of Honour,” prior to puck drop, including the original 13 inductees that were honoured at Memorial Arena.

Don’t forget, single-game tickets for Students (18 & under) and Children (12 & under) are FREE courtesy of Peter Bros Construction. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Save yourself a dollar by purchasing your single-game Adult ($13) or Senior ($11) tickets before Saturday. Fans can get their single-game tickets by visiting the Valley First Box Office (at the SOEC).
