DANCS JOINING THE MAIZE & BLUE
 
PENTICTON, BC– The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce Dexter Dancs has committed to the University of Michigan Wolverines for the fall of 2014.
 
Dancs, 17, appeared in 15 games in 2011-2012 for the Vees as an affiliate player. He spent his 16 year-old season in the Kootenay International Hockey League, where he had a breakout rookie campaign, scoring 29 goals and finished with 67 points in 42 games, on his way to being named the KIJHL Rookie of the Year. In 2011, Dancs won the BC Major Midget title with the Northwest Vancouver Giants and helped his team to a Telus Cup National Championship berth.
 
Vees Head Coach & GM Fred Harbinson says Dancs will be one to watch come September, “We are very excited to help develop Dexter for the University of Michigan over the next 2 seasons. Dexter's growth as a player over the two month playoff run he spent with us gives the indication he will have an immediate impact this upcoming season.”
 
The Michigan Wolverines are a storied college hockey program based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Wolverines have won  9 NCAA Division l Frozen Four Championships, 10 CCHA regular season titles and 9 CCHA Tournament titles in their 90 year history. The Wolverines are guided by legendary Head Coach Red Berenson, who has been at the helm since 1984. Berenson has coached in 1,181 games and has 752 career wins in his tenure behind the bench. During that time he has won two Frozen Four Championships and all 19 CCHA titles.
 
Dancs is the fourth player in Penticton franchise history to play for the Wolverines, joining the likes of Brendan Morrison, Brian Lebler and Craig Murray to suit up for the maize & blue.
