KYLE BEAULIEU JOINS THE GREEN KNIGHTS
PENTICTON, BC– The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce Kyle Beaulieu has committed to St. Norbert College Green Knights for next season.
St. Norbert is considered one of the top Division lll programs in the NCAA. The Green Knights are coming off another banner year, wining their second consecutive national championship in March. St. Norbert is only the third NCAA Division lll program to win consecutive national championships; their third in school history.
Beaulieu, 21, just completed his final season of junior hockey with the Vees. The White Rock, BC native played parts of four seasons in the BCHL, his final two coming in a Vees jersey. The stay-at-home defenseman appeared in 161 career games, scoring four goals and collected thirty points. Beaulieu played in all but two of the Vees twenty-six playoff games this past season and was a prominent fixture on the blue-line.
“In his time with the Vees, Kyle developed into one of the premier shutdown defenseman in the BCHL,” commented Vees Head Coach / GM Fred Harbinson, “He brings a defensive element that is invaluable, especially in the playoffs.”
“Kyle is an underrated player and was a major key for our team winning a national championship this season. He’s a quality individual, as his teammates named him the most popular in each of his two seasons in Penticton.”
The Green Nights are based in De Pere, Wisconsin and play out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. St. Norbert finished the 2011-2012 season with a 21-5-5 record and captured their thirteenth NCHA regular-season championship and tenth NCHA Peters Cup title.
Beaulieu is the seventeenth Vee to secure a NCAA scholarship and joins four BCHL alumni on the Green Nights active roster. The entire Vees organization wishes Kyle the best of luck in his collegiate career.
