the Penticton Vees Junior "A" Hockey Club is proud to offer a reading program to Penticton and area Elementary Schools. The Vees "Read & Succeed" Program is geared toward Grades 2 to 5, but could possibly include all grade levels.

The aim of this literacy program is to help motivate children to read. Children are often influenced by their heroes. Penticton Vees' players visit classrooms throughout the school year and read to students from a series of children's books, authored by Lorna Schultz Nicholson. These books have a hockey theme and also include many life values as the players want to leave youth in the community with a posivite message.

Lorna's books have been recommended by Wayne Gretzky.

"Lorna's books are a great read for kids and their parents. They really help teach the importance of having good values, both in hockey and in life."
