Jost Nominated for CJHL Top Forward Award

The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Tyson Jost (’98) has been named a finalist for the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Top Forward Award, the CJHL announced Thursday.

Jost, 18, was named the BCHL MVP this season after compiling 42 goals and 104 points in just 48 regular season games. The Vees’ graduating Captain led the league in assists (62) and points per-game average (2.17) and he had an impressive 19-game point streak during the regular season, amassing 42 points during that stretch. The St. Albert, Alberta, product added another six goals and 14 points in 11 playoff games.

At the recently completed World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Jost set a new Canadian scoring record at the tournament, picking up 15 points in 7 games, breaking Connor McDavid’s record set in 2013. Jost led the tournament in scoring and was named the Top Forward of the event.

That was the third time Jost wore the maple leaf this season, as he won gold at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in December with Team Canada West, and earlier in August, he won gold with Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup overseas.

The CJHL will announce award winners the week of May 9th-13th.
