Just last week the graduating Vees’ Captain was the recipient of the CJHL MVP & Top Forward award. He was also named the BCHL MVP in February.

“It means a lot to get recognized,” says Jost. “I was playing with a pretty special group. And that had a lot to do with my personal success. I have to give a lot of credit to Penticton. They developed me into a better person and player.”

The 18-year-old amassed 42 goals and 104 points in just 48 regular season games, leading the BCHL in assists (62) and points per-game average (2.17). He also had an impressive 19-game point streak during the regular season, compiling 42 points during that run. The St. Albert, Alberta, product added another six goals and 14 points in 11 playoff games.

At the World Under-18 Hockey Championship in April, Jost set a new Canadian scoring record at the tournament, picking up 15 points in 7 games, breaking Connor McDavid’s record set in 2013. Jost led the tournament in scoring and was named the Top Forward of the event. He also won a gold medal at the 2015 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge (WJAC) in Ontario.

Jost is the first BCHL’er to win the award since Kyle Turris in 2007 with the Burnaby Express. He’s just the second player in franchise history to be bestowed the honour, as Paul Kariya won it in 1992; the award was first introduced in 1989. Jost is the fifth BCHL’er to win the award, joining Turris, Kariya, Michael Olsen (Nanaimo) and Jeff Tambellini (Chilliwack).
